2018 NFL Playoff Predictions

This very well may be the best time in Pro Sports. The MLB Hot Stove is heating up, NHL and NBA seasons are starting to take shape, and it's playoff time in the NFL. But this year's NFL playoff field feels different. There's no clear cut favorite, or dominant team as there had been in previous years. Last year the explosive offenses of the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys were the talk of the league, and Seattle's "Legion of Boom" was in their stride. And in the AFC, the Patriots looked to have another dominant team, Pittsburgh's offense was at their highest, and the Chiefs had another team loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. This year, only four of last year's playoff teams return. A Falcons squad who lacks the same firepower on offense as last year, a Chiefs team that has been a rollercoaster all year, the Steelers whose best offensive player is still injured, and of course the Patriots, except they come into the playoffs with a sense of ...

Top 5 Best Moments of 2017 in Boston Sports

Image
Welcome back! I'm happy to be writing again and looking forward to a massive New Year in Boston Sports where so many storylines are on the horizon. But since it's the last day of the year, let us celebrate the successful year we had in Boston Sports with the top 5 best moments! 5) The Catch That Wasn't (Pennlive.com) The highs and lows of this moment were so drastic. They went from the anger of the Steelers driving right down the field after a signature Tom Brady clutch drive to absolute electricity after the NFL continues lack the knowledge about what defines a catch. The drop set up yet another idiotic goal-line play call against the Patriots in a clutch situation, giving the Pats the red carpet to AFC home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. 4) Julian Incredleman (USA Today Sports FTW) Finally we can celebrate a crazy catch on the biggest stage. After the astounding comeback, ace wide receiver, Julian Edelman, made the signature play. Edelman showed ins...

Recapping the Celtics/Cavs Trade

Image
Let's start of with this. To whomever has burned an Isaiah Thomas jersey, you are a disgrace to the entire Boston Celtics fanbase, the city of Boston, and to basketball fans everywhere. To burn a jersey is a disrespectful act in itself, but to burn the jersey of someone who brought the most historic NBA franchise ever from the bottom of the league to NBA finals contention, a guy who played a playoff game just days after his SISTER TRAGICALLY PASSED AWAY, a guy who put his body on the line every game for his team, a guy who left everything on the court, someone who showed hard work really pays off, shows heart over height is a real thing inspiring us all and doing nothing but good for the community of Boston is disgusting. You're burning that guy's jersey?!?! You can find yourself a new team to root for, because you're not on the same planet as a real Celtics fan. Anyway, let's get into it. The trade itself: Celtics: Kyrie Irving Cavs: Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder,...

Why the Celtics NEED to Trade for Kyrie Irving

The whole NBA world is currently swirling due to Cleveland Cavs' all-star guard, Kyrie Irving's reported demand of a trade out of Cleveland. You'd think that the local Boston media would be all over the Celtics to pick him up especially that according to Cavs' ex-GM David Griffin, the Celtics were one of the teams on Kyrie's wish list for destinations, but unlike past NBA stars on the market, Kyrie to Boston isn't a consensus yes. This is insane. Kyrie is a PERFECT trade target for the Celtics. Kyrie's fit would be awkward with the core of the team as it's currently assembled. Somebody would have to go. This pains me to say it, but that guy is Isaiah Thomas. As a HUGE IT fan, this kills me to say, however it's the right basketball decision. Isaiah has done wonders for the Celtics in their rebuild, and for the fans of the team. He's a true inspiration. I completely understand why fans would be outraged if he was ever dealt, and they have a right...

Will the Patriots go 19-0?

Nobody can say that the Patriots' offseason was anything short of absolutely fantastic. They added one of the league's best receivers in Brandin Cooks to an elite passing attack, a shutdown corner in Stephon Gilmore next to a proven Malcolm Butler to beef up the secondary, added two scrappy, tough running backs in Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee to arguably the league's best offense, while continuing to make more moves that strengthened the NFL's reigning Super Bowl champs. Oh yeah, and they also kept the greatest Quarterback/coach combination in NFL history. All of this adds up to the perfect season. Why couldn't this team go 19-0? They have the talent to do so if everyone stays healthy, but that won't happen. Even if everyone was healthy in this era of the NFL, no team can go undefeated. As of today, the Patriots are favored in every regular season game, so the oddsmakers are expecting them to go undefeated. But it doesn't work like that. Like previous...

Current State of the Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are arguably the most talented team in the MLB. But why are they not being considered as real World Series' threats? They sure do have the talent with All-stars Sale, Betts, Kimbrel, as well as former All-Stars in Rick Porcello (also last year's AL CY Young winner), David Price, Xander Bogaerts. They have a World Series winning manager in John Farrell, and a proven GM in Dave Dombrowski who has proven he can make the right moves for the current team (while also depleting a top 5 farm system, but that's for another day). The reason why? The talent isn't performing.  Sure Mookie Betts was an All-Star this year but he's nowhere near his last-year's MVP front-runner self, only hitting .274 this year. Bogaerts is hitting for a strong average, sure, but 6 home runs? You can't be looked at as a top-tier superstar in the MLB if you are on pace for 12 home runs. Price has actually been solid since returning from injury, but Rick Porcello has been...

Gordon Hayward is a Celtic and it is Fantastic

Image
First off, where is the "fire Danny Ainge" crowd? It would be awfully hard to continue to preach that awful notion after Ainge sealed the deal by signing a star free agent for the second year in a row in Gordon Hayward. It wasn't the smoothest process. The signing was leaked before Hayward intended to announce his move, his agent strictly denied that report, and Hayward eventually wrote a piece on  The Player's Tribune  confirming his move to the Celtics. So yeah, not the greatest look, but nonetheless, HAYWARD IS A CELTIC! The basketball fit is absolutely perfect, literally written up from the basketball bible (Brad Stevens definitely wrote this). The Celtics were in desperate need of a wing scorer to take the load off of IT until our guy Gordon signed up. With Hayward aboard, IT doesn't have to worry about double teams and complex defensive schemes against him. Imagine a beautiful sequence of IT taking the ball up the cour...
